Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

The NTV Evening Newshour is Newfoundland And Labrador's top rated newscast. With a full time staff of 18 people working in the St. John's Studio and two full-time staffed news bureaus in central and Western Newfoundland. NTV News also employs 4 part-time reporters in varsious regions of the province. Each day a dedicated team of reporters fan out across the province to gather the news of the day and reflect for our viewers the events that shape their lives. Each day we also deploy our satellite truck and a second microwave untit to cover live events as they unfold.

Resources of the newsroom (money and time) available to complete the story:

The main challenge facing NTV News each day is the vast geographical size of the province. Many times, news events happen in remote areas that are simply not accessable that same day. As a result, NTV News has built a list of 80 stringers in many of those remote regions. These stringers act as our eyes on the ground getting video to us for each broadcast
