Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

In covering the murder of prominent Halifax activist Raymond Taavel, Nick Logan reported the latest details in a manner that was timely and sensitive to the hundreds of people affected by the tragic death. Although he covered the story throughout the day, it was his evening coverage of the impromptu vigil, at the site of Taavel's death, that stood out from other reports. Nick spoke with the mourners, some whom shared their touching memories of Taavel and others who had no connection to the 49-year-old, but felt compelled to take part in the tribute. He presented their experiences in a way that honoured their loss. His final piece on the vigil incorporated photos and videos, capturing the beautiful-but-humble memorial.
