Short explanation of the story and how it developed: Moose Kiss Photo (Cutline: Jonathan Drouin, second from left, and Stefan Fournier share a kiss during the final game of the President Cup finals against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar) In most Cup-clinching situations, emotions are always running high. In this case the Halifax Mooseheads were playing the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on home ice with a chance to win the President Cup before for a capacity crowd at the Metro Centre. When you shoot a game like this – goal celebrations become even more important. The Moose scored first in the opening period and I was ready to capture the celebration. It’s only after I was reviewing the images on the back of my camera did I realize teammates Jonathan Drouin and Stefan Fournier were sharing a celebratory kiss. Definitely something you don’t see in hockey everyday. The photo was posted as the main image with our Metro Halifax online story of the Herd’s win that night and it was shared by thousands on social media. To my surprise I saw screen captures of the image on Instagram and Tumblr that night. Yahoo Sports also purchased the photo to share on a international stage. |
