Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

Post-tropical storm Arthur rolled into the Maritimes on Saturday July 5th, 2014, bringing high winds and waves. The three Maritime Provinces were plagued by massive power outages, flooding, and wind damage. As the magnitude of the storm became apparent, Staff at News 95.7 were called into work to begin our special event breaking news coverage. At one point the storm knocking out power to more than 290,000 homes and businesses. Our team coverage was hosted by veteran talk show host Rick Howe and staff meteorologist Richard Zurawski. Dan Ahlstrand was our principal news anchor and our reporters were fanned out across the city. What followed is what radio does best. News95.7 Halifax broadcast a three hour show to listeners to keep the public up-to-date on current conditions, potential dangerous situations and cancellations with reporters, weather experts, and community leaders. We respectfully submit this news special for your consideration.
