Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

This newscast aired the morning after McCain Foods announced it was closing a potato processing plant in Borden -Carleton, it was also the morning the fall lobster fishery began despite concern from fishermen. The cast features stories from across the province, both live breaking news and reaction. The presentation includes a number of treatments of stories as well. It reflects two of the province's primary industries and ends on a lighter note with a story from the artistic community.

Resources of the newsroom (money and time) available to complete the story:

The lead story was produced by our evening reporter, Pat Faller, who worked with a late producer in Halifax. The lobster season story was recorded at 7:00 by morning news editor Mitch Cormier while Steve Bruce was at a wharf in western P.E.I. Reaction from the MP story, Girl Guide expansion and Art in the Open stories were prepared the afternoon before the cast aired, though each script is rewritten by Mitch for each cast.
