Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

Through dogged determination, writer Lois Legge tracked down legendary photographer Robert Frank at his summer home in Cape Breton. After Frank - who notoriously shuns publicity - agreed to an interview, Lois and photographer Adrien Veczan visited the 89-year-old in his home. Although Frank was reluctant to have his photo taken, he eventually allowed a handful of frames to be shot, including the one that made the cover. Herald Magazine chose to run the photo in black and white to convey to readers an understanding of Frank's own iconic view of photography. Black and white, Robert Frank has said, is the colour of photography.
