Short explanation of the story and how it developed: With the ongoing crisis in healthcare in Nova Scotia, we decided to really focus on how real people were being impacted. We did a number of stories in this series, but all focused on the impact of the core issue - a shortage of doctors. The three stories we're submitted were the first three of the series. They spawned event more calls and emails from people facing their own challenges, leading to additional stories. Skye did a 1x1 accountability interview as well with Health Minister Michelle Thompson. I have added that as a fourth piece but can be ignored if not allowed. |

Resources of the newsroom (money and time) available to complete the story: Skye and Rebecca worked together to find the real people in this series. Skye shot, wrote and edited the stories while Rebecca took the lead on the web copy. They did not have any additional assistance. They had approximately two days for each story. |
