Short explanation of the story and how it developed: Original story developed with help and additional reporting by colleagues at Radio-Canada as well as a morning show interview. The first story led to a message to the reporter offering new information about the allegations. The reporter travelled to Halifax to interview the engineer who was the subject of the second story. Further reporting and verification followed in conjunction with Radio-Canada reporter Pascal Raiche-Nogue. Attempts to reach the suspended engineer included door knocking, registered letter, calls, emails and social media messages. Multiple legal reviews were carried out of the second story. Shortly before publication, more legal documents were filed which delayed release of the second story. While finishing the second story, work began on a third to try to explain how issues alleged could go unnoticed. This included trying to seek industry comment on the alleged issues. Reporting has continued on more lawsuits and details about the buildings. |
