Short explanation of the story and how it developed: I knew Eli Dunphy was working through this rehabilitation for his arm injury and approached him about talking the experience and the injury itself. He's the first from the province to have the surgery, so he's really maneuvering through uncharted waters with his rehab. He was up for it and we chatted a couple of times for the piece. |

Eli and I spoke over the phone and exchanged text messages a couple of times before the piece was finished. The initial interview was a half hour or so. Then, there was the matter of contacting his coach for reaction and gathering photos. |
