Short explanation of the story and how it developed: Inside Operation Roadrunner is a rare look inside one of the largest drug investigations in the history of Newfoundland and Labrador. The series makes extensive use of police surveillance videos, photos and wiretaps to show how the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was able to take down a Hells Angels affiliated cocaine ring that operated out of a strip club in St. John's. The series gave the local audience unprecedented access to the police investigation and a revealing glimpse inside a profitable and violent drug operation. |

Resources of the newsroom (money and time) available to complete the story: The series took more than two years to pull together due to the trials of the various players arrested during the investigation. David Cochrane was the reporter on the series. He kept tabs on the various trials and convinced the police to give the CBC access to their investigative files. Paul Pickett was the videographer and editor of the series. |
