Short explanation of the story and how it developed: Philip Boudreau, a sometimes fisherman, died in what RCMP described as an "altercation on the water." The tiny community of Petit-de-Grat closed ranks. Reporters came and went, telling their desks, "Nobody is talking." But people did talk to Phonse Jessome. What emerged was a story of a community on edge, and something far more sinister than a simple "altercation" on the water. |

Resources of the newsroom (money and time) available to complete the story: Phonse was assigned to this story full-time over 3 weeks. He made several trips to Petit-de-Grat using Sydney as a base. |
