Short explanation of the story and how it developed: On the evening of February 19, shots were fired outside the university recreation complex in St. John's. Police were attempting to apprehend a suspect who was under surveillance. The suspect tired to get away and that's when shots rang out. VOCM's Fred Hutton was first to report that the shot was fired by police as they attempted to stop the suspect, who drive a vehicle at the officer. Danielle Barron then did live reports from the shooting scene and later from police headquarters after police found the getaway car torched In a field. |
