Short explanation of the story and how it developed: The 1:00 p.m. News is the first Major Newscast of the VOCM afternoon programming. It is broadcast across the am network of stations to the entire province. This newscast featured several exclusive stories including a story that Legal Aid Lawyers would no longer travel to parts of Labrador. As a result of our report the government stepped in to fix the issue. Another report hilighted the number of people driving without insurance and a controversy over the local professional hockey team being unable to host a playoff game on home ice due to a scheduling issues. |

Resources of the newsroom (money and time) available to complete the story: The newsroom consists of 12 full and part-time reporters and announcers. Each day it varies, but about 8 people contribute to the continent and delivery of the newscast. It's difficult to figure out how many hours are spent compiling the information, but it would be many hours, possibly 15-20 combined. |
