Short explanation of the story and how it developed: The Amateur is the story of Fredericton plumber Terry Adair and his drive to play golf at the highest competitive levels, even though he's not very good. As a follower of amateur golf in NB, I began to notice Adair's name routinely appearing in provincial championships as the last place finisher. I was fascinated by his perseverance and tracked him down to try and understand his motivation and tell his story. |
