Short explanation of the story and how it developed: A Nova Scotia man is in police custody in Ottawa after a bizarre series of events which began when police in Hazmat suits entered two homes in Cole Harbour, concerned about reports of a mysterious package. Before the end of the week five homes in Grand Desert Nova Scotia evacuated while RCMP deal with “hazardous and volatile chemicals That was the backdrop for our morning News on Thursday January 22nd, 2015, as RCMP say they found unstable chemicals stacked floor to ceiling in a cottage there. 42-year-old Christopher Phillips was scheduled to appear in court on charges of uttering threats and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, following his arrest in the nation's capital after police evacuated and searched an Ottawa hotel.
