Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

This is an excerpt from our Islander Day (Family Day) show on Feb. 16th last year. Overnight PEI got more than 64 cms of snow. A couple of people made it to work, including host Matt Rainnie - who walked part way and then caught a ride with a passing snow plow. The team decided to throw out the show we had planned and just talk to people about what they were experiencing. They provided necessary information to Islanders about the weather and power situation, but also made people feel like they weren't alone - we were all in this together. Matt stayed on (because no one else could get in) and also hosted the afternoon show that day. Still in his pajamas.

Resources of the newsroom (money and time) available to complete the story:

Three people who could make it to the station...and one at home...put together the show. A true skeleton staff.
