Short explanation of the story and how it developed: Jessica was called at 6:45 AM on May 8 by Island Morning's radio news presenter, and she was on the scene of a serious fire in about 10 minutes. She quickly gathered as much information as possible and did a live report for the 7:30am news. (45 mins after being awakened). Jessica then ran back to the station to get her video camera gear (10 mins away), returned to the scene, and managed to talk to one of the victims before her next radio hit. Jessica was shooting with her camera, doing interviews and tweeting photos, all while getting ready to report live into our morning radio show for the second time. Of course all this content was also quickly filed to and used for digital and as she stayed with the fire all day, it was presented with updated information for TV too. Ultimately an arson charge arose out of this fire, and an arrest was the same day. |
