Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

Saltscapes editor Jim Gourlay, commissioned this piece on Lennie Gallant to profile him as a musician and tell the story of the hit summer show that was being staged for a second season on Prince Edward Island. Philip met with Lennie Gallant when he was on tour in Fredericton to discuss Lennie’s interest in the history and cultural heritage of the island and how this has been reflected over the years in his songwriting. In the days that followed Philip took a closer look at Lennie’s songs about the island and the connection with his family's story and history—also exploring the beautiful art of his sister that is featured in the summer show. The result is a narrative that tells the story of one of Canada's most talented singer-songwriters and the show that became his love letter to his home island.
