Short explanation of the story and how it developed: Shortly before noon on Saturday December 19 the jury in Dennis Oland's 3 month long murder trial ended four days of deliberations by finding him guilty of killing his father. Oland collapsed in court sobbing and wailing, an event that lit up social media inside and outside of New Brunswick and stunned city residents who seemed to be expecting a different outcome. CBC Reporter Robert Jones who was off work at the time raced to the courthouse in time for the verdict and reported on what happened to regional and national tv and radio audiences throughout the day. |
