Short explanation of the story and how it developed: Nova Scotia, in the midst of the pandemic, had suffered the horror of Portapique. I wanted to write a column that expressed the overwhelming despair that many Nova Scotians felt. I felt it was important to say that, for all of us, it was okay to feel bad in such circumstances. I saw Stephen McNeil's emotion on a TV news show, so I decided to use that as a way into the subject. |
