Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

Every weekday Information Morning Mainland, led by host Portia Clark, delivers a mix of long form original news, which often helps set the news agenda for journalists throughout Nova Scotia. It also includes engaging enterprise reporting, important survival information to start your day with dependable weather and traffic reports and a local news package of stories to help people start their days well informed. This submission includes examples of all of this content. I would highlight the Original story of a Canadian Veteran unable to get a bed in a veteran's hospital in Halifax and an investigation that reveals jail staff were not following their own policies when an inmate overdosed in his cell. Note....30 minutes gets you through the beginning of our inmate investigation but I included the whole segment in case judges have leeway to consider the extra 8 minutes.

Resources of the newsroom (money and time) available to complete the story:

Information Morning draws on the strength of CBC Nova Scotia's multi-platform newsroom but at it's core the show is produced by Christina Harnett and her team which consists of a producer, associate producer, director, tech, a newsreader, regional sports broadcaster, host and co-host.
