Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

The flooding that affected New Brunswick in the spring of 2018 was a widespread community emergency and CBC NB was there from the very beginning. In the best tradition of public broadcasting we reached out to emergency measures officials, first responders, volunteers and, of course, the people affected by the rising waters to create a full and comprehensive picture of what was happening and to whom it was happening We took our show out into the community on four occasions during the flood, including this May 7th broadcast from the swollen banks of the St. John River near Grand Bay. The mandate to our reporters that day was to get out to flooded communities and tell the stories of the victims. We then presented those stories in a roundup of the day's developments, along with the best, most compelling images we had gathered. We heard from the EMO about the fears of contamination in the flood waters, the emotional pleas from flood victims and concluded our show with the day's other big story, the trial of convicted murderer Marissa Shephard. We hope you enjoy it.
