Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

For months, in the spring of 2020, Islanders could not leave the province. On July 3rd that time came to an end. This was a momentous day and our program aimed to reflect just how important it was. We had live reports from the Confederation Bridge and the Northumberland Ferry, a Maritime-wide point of view from New Brunswick, drone footage, and a first-person account from cottage owners. On top of the Atlantic Bubble coverage, the government had recently announced that schools would re-open in September and we had reaction from parents as well as politicians. In addition, during the first 6 months of the pandemic, we tried to continuously highlight "positive stories." Our viewers responded strongly to these and asked for them to be a staple on our program. We called those segments "Silver Linings" and aimed to feature Islanders who were making the most of the pandemic. One of our core objectives is to balance news coverage while giving viewers a reason to smile. On this day, we definitely succeeded.
