Short explanation of the story and how it developed:

April 19th will be a day that will be forever remembered in Nova Scotia. That was the day we learned the horrific details of what would be the worst mass shooting in Canadian history. This submission includes a series of 5 updates provided by Anchor Mark Hodgins on that day. The story develops from what police were calling an active shooter, a warning to residents to remain in their homes, information that the suspect may be driving a lookalike police vehicle, news that he was making his way to Halifax, and wraps with work that the suspect was taken into custody. We learned later that the suspect was shot dead by police at a gas station near the airport. Radio, by its very nature, does breaking news well and this is an outstanding example that. And as a side note, Mark was not only updating listeners in the Halifax area that morning. He was also doing live hits on other Rogers stations across the country during the manhunt.
